Her debut track Here was released in the year 2015. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and listeners. In the same year, she released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five songs she wrote that made it to Billboard's charts. The track is special because, based on the Rap-Up interview that she conducted, many of her listeners were able to identify with her journey of finding love for themselves, and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara includes messages of kindness and loving yourself throughout her songs. The music of Cara is directly from her struggle with mental illness, insomnia and other health issues. According to Reuters' interview, she has said that her album was half turbulent and half-perfected. She describes her growth by therapy and is adamant about encouraging others to seek help when necessary. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents when she was 10, which ignited her passion for music. At 13 years old, she began covering her favorite songs via YouTube a major media platform in order to demonstrate to the world that she possessed the talent skills and determination to develop into a professional singer. Sweater Weather is one of these covers which led to her being discovered by EP Entertainment. This record label allowed her create her own songs.
