At the age of 19 at the time, she dropped Here, her first single. It was an instant hit with both critics as well as fans praised it. It was ranked in the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked it at 19. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs of the year. That same year she debuted the album she titled Know It All, the track Scars to Your Beautiful ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200. It was also one of the original five songs. This track was special because, based on her interview with Rap-Up that she did with people who listened to her music could relate to her experience in learning to love themselves as well as doubting herself. Cara is well-known for her ability to incorporate messages about mental health love and self-love into her songs. All of Cara's music stems directly from her battle with depression, insomnia and other health issues. Interview with Reuters she described her album as "half tumultuous" and "half perfect". People have told her that she found her growth in therapy. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. In 2010, her parents bought her a new guitar that she was able to use to discover her love for music. In 2013, she covered her favorite songs for YouTube, a popular social media site. The goal was to prove that she had the capability and the self-confidence to pursue a career as an artist. Sweater Weather is among these covers which led to her being noticed at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label allowed her create the songs she wrote herself.
