The song reached the top spot at 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the track one of the Top Songs in the year 2015. This same year, she also released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five original songs that reached Billboard's charts. The song was particularly memorable because it was based on an interview with rapper Rap-Up, many of the listeners shared their experiences through self-doubt and discovering how to be a better person. Cara's songs often include positive messages regarding mental wellness and how important it is to love yourself. All of it is a result of her personal experience as she suffered from mental health problems and insomnia. According to an Reuters interview, the album is described as halfway tumultuous, half perfected. Therapy helped her grow and advises people to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara, a Canadian musician, was born in Canada on July 11, 1996 of Italian parentage. At the age of 10 old, her parents bought her a guitar which became the beginning of her passion for music. In 2013, she covered her favorite songs for YouTube, a popular social media site. The goal was to prove that she had both the talent and confidence to be an artist. One of her tracks, Sweater Weather, was the first thing that made her stand out. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and write her own songs.
